Product Description
Having high cholesterol increases your probability of having a heart attack and/or stroke.

It's a fact of life that cholesterol is a problem in our society. Many factors including diet and exercise are often cited as the culprit. If you have tried diet and exercise and need some additional help that can really impact your cholesterol, consider Resterol. A new formula from progressivehealth.com that has ingredients clinically proven to help lower LDL (bad) cholesterol and raise HDL (good) cholesterol.

Resterol provides you with effective, cholesterol lowering nutrients, as well as botanicals that support circulatory health. When combined with exercise and sound diet, Progressive Health's formulas works to naturally lower LDL and help raise HDL.

To help put in perspective the amount of beneficial ingredients found in Resterol, we have put together the following diet analysis. Here is what you would need to consume if you wanted to get the same supplements and herbs found in one serving of Resterol:

- 2 Pounds of Almonds to get the same amount of Vitamin E.
- 7 Cups of sunflower seeds to get the same amount of Pantethine.
- 1/2 of a garlic bulb.
- The Root of a Turmeric plant.
- 1 1/2 cups of brown rice to get the same amount of inositol.
- The resin of the Commiphora mukul herb

Taking just 3 capsules a day (2 capsules 1 hour before breakfast and 1 capsule 1 hour before dinner) will give you all the help you need without consuming all those extra calories. Progressive Health has taken the guesswork out of "cholesterol nutrition," by creating Resterol - a potent cholesterol support formula backed by science and supported by our many satisfied consumers.

Though we cannot address hereditary factors influencing your cholesterol, this advanced formula may provide a secondary support to the many healthy changes you've started making in your life. You've addressed your need to lower your total cholesterol; you now owe it to yourself to supplement your diet with a nutritional tool that is guaranteed, effective, and safe.

Resterol Ingredients

Vitamin E - A potent antioxidant, vitamin E has been studied and used for years to improve cardiovascular health. The risk of having high cholesterol is the formation of atherosclerotic plaques in the coronary arteries. A six year study of men and women smokers and nonsmokers with high cholesterol showed that taking vitamin E and C can slow the progression of atherosclerosis. Another randomized clinical study in men with high cholesterol showed that vitamin E taken on its own, long term, reduces peroxidation of lipids, like cholesterol, which is a major factor in the process of forming atherosclerotic plaques. Vitamin E supplementation also appears to reverse levels of certain molecules (VCAM-1 and nitric oxide) in the blood that contribute to atherosclerosis in people with high cholesterol.

Pantethine - The effect of supplementation on cardiovascular health with this B vitamin has been known for many years. Researchers gave diabetics pantethine for 9 months and observed reductions in plasma triglyceride, total cholesterol, apo E and apo CII levels. More recent animal research has shown that administration of panthothenic acid derivatives including pantethine lowered food intake, mean body weight, insulin and glucose levels and decreased the content of triglycerides, total cholesterol and cholesterol esters in serum and adipose tissue. It appears the positive effects of pantethine in lowering lipids are related to its effect on insulin.

Garlic (Allium sativa) - This botanical medicine, often referred to as the panacea of herbs, is very useful in cardiovascular disease. A double-blind placebo controlled study of patients with mild to moderate hypercholesterolemia, revealed that garlic can help lower total and LDL cholesterol levels and can be even more effective when combined with dietary changes. Certain compounds in garlic have demonstrated the ability to reduce oxidation of LDL cholesterol, which contributes to atherosclerosis.

Turmeric extract (Curcuma longa) - Known widely for its use in Indian cuisine, turmeric is a powerful antioxidant with clinical applications in cardiovascular disease and cancer. One of the active components in turmeric is curcumin. Research shows that curcumin can lower cholesterol levels due to an effect on cholesterol absorption, degradation or elimination. Very recently, researchers discovered that curcumin appears to work on a molecular level, regulating genes involved in cholesterol metabolism.

Inositol - A form of inositol called inositol hexaphosphate is another strong antioxidant. Animal research shows that supplementation significantly lowers elevated levels of serum total cholesterol, triglycerides and zinc/copper ratio associated with administration of the cholesterol-enriched diet.

Gum Guggul Extract (Commiphora mukul) - Classically used in Ayurvedic medicine to lower cholesterol, gum guggul has received much interest in the Western world. Research supports the use of guggul to lower high levels of lipids. When compared to placebo, guggul given for 24 weeks in combination with a diet rich in fruits and vegetables, demonstrated the ability to decrease the total cholesterol level by 11.7%, the LDL level by 12.5%, triglycerides by 12.0%, and the total cholesterol/high density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol ratio by 11.1%.. Furthermore, the combined effect of diet and guggul at 36 weeks was as great as the reported lipid-lowering effect of modern drugs. While there are some conflicting results, there are numerous studies supporting the cholesterol lowering effect of guggul.

Policosanol - Administration of policosanol has been shown to lower cholesterol in some studies, although there is one recent study that suggests when given alone it may not be effective. However, when used in combination with omega 3 fatty acids, LDL-C was significantly reduced by 21.1% and 24.4% depending on the dose of policosanol (5mg or 10 mg, respectively). Total cholesterol and HDL levels were also improved with this combination therapy. A pilot study also showed that policosanol (10 mg/day) was slightly more effective than lovastatin (20 mg/day) in reducing the LDL-C/HDL-C and total cholesterol/HDL-C ratios, in increasing HDL-C levels and in preventing LDL oxidation.
